"basically a lifted camary wagon, so you can expect them to last a couple hundred thousand miles"
Hmmmm, 1996.
problem is the RAV4 is already overpriced so the venza isn't going to be any better. Given Toyota's continued drop in quality they're better off focusing on their existing models before trying to introduce new ones.
Overpriced? When I bought my $45k toyota truck, I got roughly $2k off MSRP. When I bought my $23k hyundai, I got $5k off MSRP. The market speaks on such matters as "overpriced" and it disagrees with you. Toyota and Lexus ranks 1+2 in quality
It's a wagon. I'm not sure what the new one will look like, but the old one was a station wagon with a little ground clearance. So you'll get a more car like experience.
I thought it was an SUV/crossover when I drove it?
The original Venza wanted to appeal to the younger crowd but apparently most of the buyers were seniors.
I agree that the CUV segment is getting too crowded. For an extra inch of length, you can move up a size. Every car maker now is trying to have two smaller and one medium version around their best selling CUV.

They might classify it as a crossover, but its6 based on the camary and shares a platform with it. it just sits a little higher off the ground. It is like the Honda Crosstour, which was really just an accord.
could become the number one selling vehicle being sized right as a mid size crossover.
It couldn't. Midsize crossovers are never sold in the same numbers as vehicles one size down. Too expensive to be an everyman type of vehicle. Still could be a decent seller, though, but will need to change the form factor dramatically from the first one in order to be successful.

You seem to be strangely attached to that date. Are you trying to say that the idea of Camrys lasting over 200K miles is a two-and-a-half-decades-old concept which is no longer true? Because I can assure you that you're wrong.

Bizarre statements right? You can go to the YouTube's right now and find examples of million mile toyotas much newer than that.
