exactly. It sounds like for now there's going to be the Bronco and then the Bronco Sport, and maybe a third vehicle similar to the Jeep Gladiator truck.
There have been rumors of a Bronco pickup truck in the cards, built to compete with the Jeep Gladiator. But it's worth noting that Ford already has a smaller pickup on the way, a Ranger on sale, the F-150, and Super Duty. America likes trucks, but five pickups from one brand could be stretching it.
Lots of updates:
1) Terrain specific off road tech
2) Newer powertrain for better power & mpg
3) Updated Interior
4) New infotainment screen
5) Updated platform with less weight
I’d include a hybrid model for good low end torque.
There aren't any Ford blue ovals anywhere on the Mustang and I suspect it will be the same with the Bronco. We'll know more next week.
It was on the '99-'04 Mustang we will see if it’s on the Bronco, if not it will cay Ford somewhere on the vehicles. Even if not we all know it’s a Ford. Just open the hood it will say Ford in the blu oval on the sticker in the engine bay same with the mustang.
Look for the Bronco and the Broncos Sport to be a couple of Ford's top sellers.
I think people need to temper the expectations on the sales with these trucks. For starters, there is only limited capacity of each one so it would be awfully difficult to sell 200,000 of these per year even if they wanted to. These are meant as complimentary products to platform-mates Escape and Ranger, and they do not have an assembly plant all to themselves to produce unlimited volume.
With the big Bronco, even the top dog Wrangler historically sold ~ 75K units each year but that has spiked up big time in the past 5 years as these types of vehicles have become so popular again. Wrangler sales have averaged nearly 200K units per year over the last 5 years. - Nearly double the yearly sales compared to 2014 and older years.
On the Bronco Sport, it will be real interesting to see how this one goes. Will it get the same lukewarm reception as the Compass/Cherokee or will it attract buyers like crazy? Time will tell.....but the small SUV segment is certainly way bigger than the Wangler/Bronco segment so if the Bronco Sport takes off, I would not be surprised if they sold more of these than the larger Bronco. (But many of those sales could come at the expense of the platform-mate Escape. We'll see how much cannibalization occurs there.)

So basically get rid of everything that makes it good.
4runner doesn't need an update it needs a backdate, back to the days when it was a 4runner. If Toyota wanted to do something useful they would bring back the Previa
That sounds like diesel station wagons, or left handed firearms. Lots of vocal demand, little market return.

3) Updated Interior
4) New infotainment screen They've updated that over the years too, and 2020 saw it grow 2 inches and add Android and Apple Car Play

I think what you're referring to is a Highlander, maybe with better AWD.

The good thing is that if you already own the FJ, you can sell it with half a million miles on it and buy a Bronco wi4h cash with enough money leftover to buy a Korean auto dealership. The FJ is already a collector's item, and it has one of the best resale values of all time. After 3 years it retained like 93% of it's value.
