Toyota needs a sports car halo, but imo it way overshot the mark on this one. Its bringing a $25k rwd coupe to market, and now this at $375k. I think Toyota is missing the fat middle market between $50-80k where it needs to be competing with the likes of the Corvette and the GT-R.
It will be a nice halo car, but its more of a curiosity or an ego badge like a Veyron. It will however generate a ton of press and give credence to any future sports cars Toyota brings out.
Lets look at some of the competition in this price point (and a bit lower):
SLR McLaren coupe or roadster
LP640
Carrera GT
Ferrari 599
AM DBS
Ferrari F40 (maybe)
430 Scuderia or 16M
458 Italia
I'm sure there are others that I'm leaving off, but that doesn't really matter. Who can argue that a Lexus fits anywhere in this mix?

I find humor in that a $70,000 sports car can take just about any "super car" in stock form. And the Chevy is much cheaper to mod than the Porsche/Lambos/Ferrari to give it that extra edge if needed. Sorry, I'm a big GM nutswinger. If it bothers you, I will keep it doing it in every thread.
