Toyota said Tuesday that it has found in a handful of its much-hyped new Tundra pickups a defect that caused the engines to fail.
Toyota (TM) has reports of camshafts breaking in the 5.7-liter V-8 engines of about 20 Tundras so far. The flaw was due to a manufacturing defect by a subcontractor. All of the engines are being replaced.
We just bought one 3 months ago, my husband is a Toyota Master at the toyota dealer we bought it from and he hasn't had any come in his shop for this problem yet. These trucks are flying out the door where he works though.

we agree. that's all we've ever owned for trucks and believe me, we've put them to the test of their limits a few times. Our friend has an older tacoma still going strong over 200,000 miles on it and he's put that thing through the wringer a few times.

Ive owned 2 older Toyota trucks, and abused them royally. Only problem I ever had with one was a broken CV boot, which was my fault. A $100 re-man axle, 2 hours of labor later and I was back on the road. My last Toy had a 4" suspension lift, 35" mudders, etc. It was a blast to drive on and off-road. I miss that truck something fierce.

Sounds like a good time. I bet that thing was a gas guzzler though with them tires.

I asked my husband about this last night. He said so far only 5 out of 50,000 Tundra's had this problem and it was because of the company they were buying the parts from had the defect. Toyota quickly caught on to the problem before many more were used which is why only a handful probably got through.
My father owns a 97 T100 and has hardly had any trouble with it. In my opinion Toyota makes the best trucks out there for the buck. I'm not surprised by how well they sell around where I live.
