Good for them. The entire point of a business is to make a profit so they're doing very well for themselves. There are plenty of airlines to choose from, you do not have to fly Delta. I personally love Delta and have a ton of ff miles with them. My husband flies them all the time for business and has elite status. We've never paid any fees because of our status. I choose Delta every chance I get and will continue to fly with them as long as they are an option. And, they are not the only airline to charge for excess baggage, snacks, etc. Just about every airline does it these days.
There is a soft carrier at Petco that is airline-approved, which must go under the seat ahead of yours, and PC must be able to stand up and turn around inside it. You can go there and ask them if PC can try it.
And as he has a short nose you have to make sure he will have plenty of room to breathe very comfortably. Every pet must have this room of course, but short-nosed ones like PC need special attention with that.
But for the record, regardless, PC has squeezed a special place for himself in my heart.
MAK, I don't know if 1st class/business class have the same restrictions, though.
I don't know if you really want to take PC in-cabin this might be something they could possibly establish a fee for as he is a tad too big.
You mentioned you have many miles and your husband has elite status, so it might be something they would be willing to accommodate, you can always ask!
If it were my plane, PC would fly first class, along with my Maltese.
I would LOVE to take him to visit my mom on the East coast. The only way I'd ever do that if he was in the cabin. On our last flight, the lady in front of us had a therapy dog that was a golden retriever, so they allow large dogs as long as they are certified it seems. He wasn't in a crate or anything, just laying by her feet.
PC would lick your Maltese! He loves small dogs!
