Sorry you're wrong. The Jerusalem YMCA has a huge Chritmas tree decorating event, and there are trees in the Chritsian communities. It is definately not "banned". And if you want the abslute Chritmas experience travel to Bethlehem on Chritmas Eve.
For those who mentioned terrorism, it is safe to travel to Israel - and I am not a 52 year old Jewish woman!
Jerusalem is a great destination if you are into history and ancient cultures as well as present day multiple cultures. You can meet Muslims, Christians, Jews, Armenians and recent immigrants from around the world like the Jewish Etheopians, Yemanites etc.
As for the person who said it was just like California, - absolutely not.
Perhaps the biggest impression I got of Israel on my first visit was the outgoing, friendly people.
