At the moment it is dangerous and not recommended to go to Cairo/Egypt from IL at all !

But to jordan you can take a tour bus from Tel Aviv

I would love to visit based on a relative who raved about his visit there (and he's an atheist).

Sorry you're wrong. The Jerusalem YMCA has a huge Chritmas tree decorating event, and there are trees in the Chritsian communities. It is definately not "banned". And if you want the abslute Chritmas experience travel to Bethlehem on Chritmas Eve.

For those who mentioned terrorism, it is safe to travel to Israel - and I am not a 52 year old Jewish woman!

Jerusalem is a great destination if you are into history and ancient cultures as well as present day multiple cultures. You can meet Muslims, Christians, Jews, Armenians and recent immigrants from around the world like the Jewish Etheopians, Yemanites etc.

As for the person who said it was just like California, - absolutely not.

Perhaps the biggest impression I got of Israel on my first visit was the outgoing, friendly people.

Thanks.

I know, but it will eventually cool down. Any easy way to get from Israel to Saudi Arabia? Guess there wouldn't be much to see anyway. Unless you're flying to some places farther south.

Cross the border into Jordan or Egypt and probably from there you can get to Saudi Arabia.
