Avoid cheap, as in quality, not necessarily price! Don't forget to check Marshall's and TJ Maxx if they are near you. That's where I bought one for my friend and mom, both Samsonite spinners that have lasted for years now. They were $59.99 each, can't beat that! Those stores usually get the discontinued models, and from what I see, just about every model is discontinued after a year!

If you will be traveling a lot - I have to chime in and go with Briggs & Riley. Awesome quality and they will fix any possible damages, no questions asked. Not cheap though. Samsonite is not as good by far, but by and large a decent brand. Tumi is supposedly the best in terms of quality and materials, but also very heavy.

If you only travel 2-3 times per year, do as most posters suggest, get a cheap set of bags and buy new ones in 2 years.

Thanks for all the responses. We bought the Briggs and Riley luggage set. We felt that spending a little extra would pay off in the long run. You could not beat the quality and also the life time warranty on the pieces. Since we will travel quite a bit, we felt that it was worth the extra money.

Really appreciate all the help!!!!!!

If you are traveling with your entire family, then you’ll probably need more than one piece of luggage. I’d suggest getting at least two pieces of carry-ons and one large rolling suitcase or wheeled duffle. You might also want to buy the kids their own small carry-on bags. As for brands, Briggs & Riley is pretty awesome. It’ll give you excellent quality, tremendous durability, and lifetime warranty.
