I posted this in the Virginia forum as well, but no responses yet; does anyone know if they've raised it to 70 MPH yet? July 1st was the official date to raise them, but back over the 4th of July weekend, they were still 65 MPH.
I'm not sure, I just always remember the GIANT signs on that road that say "SPEED LIMIT ENFORCED BY AIRCRAFT," which always cracked me up. Makes it sound like you are going to get bombed from above if you speed.

Yep, that always made me laugh too. I found my self looking up(through the sunroof) and seeing if there was one above me

That's what those perfect 1 mile marks are on the road, you might see sometimes. They use simple math to calculate your speed and then the posse of officers ahead pull you over. Not used often but on big speed trap days it is used.
To answer my own question, of course they aren't - I guess it was wishful thinking to actually assume that a govt. agency would do something on time and efficiently! The law went into effect July 1st, yet here we are almost 6 weeks later, and it's still 65 MPH.
I recently drove up to Salt Lake City and they have long stretches now that they've increased to 80MPH, with a notation that it's experimental at this time.

Oh yeah, and Virginia is notorious for nailing speeders! It's 70 in NC before you enter the state, and 70 in WV once you leave the state! I typically see more people pulled over in VA than in the other 4 states I travel through to Ohio combined; and it's the state you're in the shortest distance on I-77 - about 70 miles!
80 MPH would be nice, we had a law-maker propose that here in SC last year, but the bill did not go anywhere...I would be willing to compromise and meet halfway from where it currently is to 75 MPH
