Considering a trip to Williamsburg VA (never been there) in the Fall of this year.
For those that have been there, is this a situation where one would want a hotel room in the historic district because to do otherwise would mean a real imposition as to parking when one tries to go tour?
We stayed a few days and did the Williamsburg, Colonial Williamsburg 2 day pass, and Busch Gardens....parking was never an issue. Colonial Williamsburg is an actual town, with streets and parking. The college is right there too so you won't have any problem finding parking.
We did the ghost tours...two different ones. They were the highlight of the trip.
Go to Jamestown....NOT the one you pay money for...that was REDICULIOUS! Paid for that and Yorktown and after 15 minutes we left. The Old Historic Jamestown is the one operated by the National Park Service...that's the REAL Jamestown and the best!
You shouldn't have a problem parking at Colonial Williamsburg. The advantage of staying at a hotel there is it's easier to look around the historic town vice having to drive back and forth. However, I think the hotels in historic Colonial Williamsburg are a little more expensive i.e. they charge for the convenience.
