YES, OPT OUT OF EVERYTHING,
DON'T FLY!
STAY HOME!

Maybe if this happens us regular travelers won;t have to endure all the idiots who can't by now negotiate a simple and easy US security checkpoint. With all the dolts taking the bus, security will improve as TSA has less fools to check and can spend the time to properly search everyone so those of us who don't want to be a victim of terrorist know that everyone (inlcuding grandma) was properly screened.

I will opt out. It's not so much a privacy concern as it is a health concern. Long term, cumulative effects of these machines are unknown, especially for crew or frequent fliers. We don't know how it will effect those in high risk categories, ie pregnant, have cancer or recovering from cancer, etc. I certainly will not willingly be the TSA's guinea pig.

What about the Australian airports and Heathrow London where they will NOT allow you to opt out. They threatened call the Police and prosecute me on the occasions I have objected. Heathrow held me aside so long I was going to miss my plane. They were still patting people down after the scanner anyway.... What to do??? Anne

I agree with you completely. The OPs post was childish at best.

I read recently that the TSA has now made the body scanners mandatory. You are no longer able to opt out of them.

The Plan is Simple

  1. If you absolutely, positively must fly, opt out of the scanners. Do it to protect your health and privacy.
  2. If you can avoid flying, don’t fly. Hit the airlines in the pocketbook until the scanners and gropers are gone. Make the airlines work for us.
  3. Raise holy hell. Register your disapproval of the scanners and gropers to your airline, your hotel and all government officials who claim to work for you. Educate your community.

Read the rest here:
Opt Out of the Airport Scanners for Health and Privacy - We Won't Fly .com

Do you, or the site, realize that the "scanners and gropers" (i.e. TSA) are a government, not an airline agency? "Hitting an airline in the pocketbook" would have no impact. Nor would complaining to hotels...hotels?-that makes no sense

EDIT: OH CRAP - did I get caught by the necroposters again? 2010????? Oh why do new members do this.
