The backlash continues over those new TSA screening measures, and now one Central Florida airport has decided to go with a private security screening firm.
Sanford Airport to opt out of TSA screening - WDBO Local News on wdbo.com (http://wdbo.com/localnews/2010/11/sanford-airport-to-opt-out-of.html - broken link)
This is a victory for the American people! When we speak up we can make a difference.
Call your airport manager and tell them you want them to opt out too!
How does this mean anything? Its either TSA or a private sector, it wont make any difference.
One step at a time. First we get rid of the agency that has a vested interest inmaintaining its presence at every airport. Then we get rid of the machines that have the former homeland security chief as their company's CEO and only pushed the machines so he could make millions. Then we change the way things are done and allow the private companies to use better screening procedures, like behavior profiling and questioning, instead of groping. The first step is to get TSA out of the equation.

I'd rather get sent through a quick scanner and done with it than have "behavior questioning". How is that any more freedom than a pat down>?

They will still use scanners and pat downs if they are given them.
Also = the recent CBS poll shows an overwhelming majority of Americans approve of the scanners, so technically a victory for the American people is more scanners. What you are referring to is victory for the more vocal minority who love to have a cause to latch onto.

It is also apples and oranges.
People point out behavior profiling is down by El Al, but they work flights in and out of Ben Gurion which served about 11 million passengers last year.
By comparison Atlanta alone served about 90 million. Add in every other airport across this large country and the volume isn't in the same sport.

I doubt very much that the "poll" is accurate.
And yes, with or without TSA, the private firm will be forced to follow TSA guidelines: take off your shoes, your belt, subject yourself to a scanner and a patdown.
