I don't fly very often,
but I've noticed the last few times that I flew that planes seem to get stinkier everytime I fly.

Does anybody know why this is happening?
The last few times I flew, the whole plane smelled like a public bathroom.

Could be a result in cost cutting measures (less cleaning crews, quick job, no thorough) and the practice by airlines to pack planes as much as possible.
Passengers might be a little less civilized now (will just leave their trash for example) due to irritation with the modern flying experience.
Passengers may be bringing their own food and leaving wrappers and that sort of stuff.

There are several possible reasons. As already mentioned, cost cutting and more passengers per flight are the leading canidates. It costs a bundle to shampoo the carpet and wash down the walls. Thus airlines are probably going longer between deep cleans. Also, more passengers are checking fewer bags, which means more passengers are bringing their luggage onboard with them.

Americans are getting gigantic. When you're that big, it's hard to clean all the crevices. I've sat next to my fair share of large people that smelled like death.

Just to clarify, I was talking about the smell of the air in the plane, a lot of times it smells as if the air from the bathroom is kept in the plane and mixed with the clean air.
