Hmmm well considering my trip around the world in 78-79 I've pretty much visited all the places everyone's listed.
Soooo my list would be a bit different.
I'd love to spend a year or more traveling in a small trailer visiting all the out of the way places in the USA. I'd also like to spend a summer traveling rural Canada. I've been to most states and many parts of Canada but I could do it all again.
Places I'd love to re-visit outside of the USA in no particular order are:
Tahiti
New Zealand (I'd live there if I could)
Israel
Ireland
Canada
Nepal
Greek Islands
Bali
The mountains of Poland
Gdansk shipyards in Poland
Barrow Alaska
Antarctica
The Serengeti Plains
New England in full Fall foilage
The Cape of Good Hope
Machu Picchu
Pitcairn Island
Walk the beaches of Normandy
Here's my list of "want to visit" places I haven't yet been to, in no particular order:
1. Tierra del Fuego/Patagonia
2. Hong Kong
3. New Zealand
4. Istanbul
5. Sicily (and other places nearby: Calabria, Sardinia, etc.)
6. Senegal
7. Tunisia
8. Madagascar
9. The Silk Road (esp. including the Samarkand-Tashkent segment)
10. Greece (I'm visiting Athens and Corfu/Epirus soon, but still long to visit the Aegean Islands)
1. See all 58 National Parks (and yes, I side with Ken Burns. This is America's gift to the world, our most important achievement in history). Oh yeah, and this includes Gates of the Arctic National Park and Kobuk Valley National Park
2. Nepal
3. Rejkjavik
4. Morocco
5. Czech Republic
6. Chile
7. North Korea
8. Costa Rica
9. Iraq (this time as a civilian, not officer in the US Army)
10. Cuba
Many of these, of course, are very easy to get to. I anticipate I'll cross off all of them expect All NPs, Iraq and N. Korea in less than 5-6 years.
