I am planning a road trip for this summer, and on one day I am driving from Denver to Salt Lake City. Does anyone have suggestions on what route has the best scenery? I had two ideas in mind:

1) I-70 from Denver to Green River, UT, then head north on US-6

2) I-70 from Denver to Rifle, CO, then head northwest on US-40

How is the driving on those two routes? I'm hoping for the prettiest scenic drive possible! Also, is there anywhere to stop for lunch midway through the drive? Any places for stop for bathroom breaks (the girl driving with me warned that she will need a lot of stops!) Thanks for the help!

I don't know about your route, but road trips are in the air. We are planning a road trip from MN to CA and we are stopping to see Mt. Rushmore and The Royal gorge in Colorado. One on the way in and the other on the way out.

Either way, on US 40 through Craig or from Green River north, you are going to have about 2-3 hours of pretty desolate scenery.
