Is 1 hour and 5 minutes enough between flights? I am planning to travel from Belgrade to Vienna and come there at 9:30. My next flight to New York is at 10:35. I am worried that I wont have enough time to pass security and check in for the next flight. What do you think about this? Is it too close?

Sound tight. It leaves no room for a late flight on the inbound. If you are on 1 ticket with a connection then maybe, but on 2 ticket if you miss your connection you maybe be out of luck, you NYC flight may not re-write your ticket.

If you're flying two different airlines, then no, you won't have enough time. That would mean you'd have to leave the gates, get your bags at baggage claim, check in at the counter, go through security, and walk back to the gate.

If you're flying the same airline, they'll transfer the bags for you, which means you simply have to walk to the next gate. You do not have to go through security again.

I've made a 30 minute connection once, at one of the biggest airports in the US, but even that was pushing it, plus I didn't have to retrieve my bags and go through security again.

I will fly with Austrian Airlines and both flights are operated by them and they are connected. So, I believe that is good in all of this. I wouldnt have to claim my baggage. So I dont have to go through security again?

I can't say for sure as I've never flown internationally, but you shouldn't have to go through security again, unless your connection is in another terminal, but considering it's the same airline, I think you'll be OK.

I fly to Europe constantly and always have layovers. The last 5 or so trips, we had to go through security before boarding the plane for our final destination. This was the same for coming home, we had another security check just before boarding the plane to the US. Not sure if that will be the case with you, but it was with us. However, the security line took minutes, nothing to make you miss your flight. I think you're fine with an hour.

Normally you don't have to go through security again but some airports are a bit strange and you have to go through it again even if you are just transiting between international flights with the same carrier.

Since its a InLine (Codeshare) flight its 'legal' connection. But still tight. I would suggest the 05:15 flight, to VIE, Gives you some room for your flight to be late getting into VIE. OS (Austrian Airlines) run 1 flight a day to JFK. If you miss it you most likly are waiting for the next day's flight (if it has open seats) . They MIGHT put you on some other flight to JFK on another airline, But they only do that if you are in Full Fare Coach. Biz, 1st class ticket or very High Freq Flyer statys . Discounted tickets are not put on other airlines flights.

Going to the US they will send you thru secuirty again at some airports,

Just So you know.

The 0515 flight is run by Tyrolean Airways (VO) as a codeshare

The 0810 flight is run by Yugoslav Airlines (JU) as a codeshare

You dont get on to Austrian Airlines Plane till VIE-JFK a 777-200
