Hello, I want to book a flight to Panama from the US for December. I have not ever had a passport before and will be applying for it July 7th, so I will not receive it until (at the latest) September. I do not want to pay the expedite fee but in order to get a good price on the flight, I'd like to book it now. Will online booking through Orbitz let me book the ticket without the passport info?
I've done alot of reading online, people say to put in a fake number for people who are not renewing and dont have one, but it's on the way. I'd really rather not do that... other people say call the airline directly but I can't get the same deal if I do that. Urgh. Why is traveling so dang difficult!
In the passport info box, can you type in Applied for? When you get your passport go to the reservation and update your profile with your passport number.
I HAD to have passport numbers for boarding passes to go from ORD to Paris tomorrow. It was required by American Airlines. I was surprised but I do understand.
My last two trips out of the country (both on USAir) did not require me to enter my passport number at the time of booking, just when it was time to get my boarding passes.
You do not need a passport to reserve an international flight.
If Orbitz has some BS requirement to enter passport number at time of booking just book directly with the airline. You will most likely get a cheaper flight as well.
You can book the ticket without one . But you'll need it to get on the plane.
