Question: On a recent domestic flight, I noticed the flight attendants take the beverage cart and block the aisle at the front of the plane between the passengers and the front lavatory. I then saw one of the pilots come out of the cockpit and enter the lavatory.

Ask the Captain: Why is that beverage cart blocking the lavatory? - USATODAY.com

This is news? It's been going on for several years. Usually it's either a male FA or the largest/strongest of the females if there is no male on board.

I've often noticed this as well. Once while sitting in the front row of the steerage class, I watched as a couple of the 1st class passengers went in followed by the flight attendant who first blocked the aisle with her cart. Then both of the pilots came out of the cockpit and also entered the lavatory. I noticed nobody else was left at the front of the plane so I got up and opened the door and in front of me was a ladder going down. I heard a commotion going on and went down the ladder to discover what was going on! I snapped this picture with my cell phone before they kicked me out of there...

You were very lucky that you were only kicked out. Usually when someone stumbles across one of our secrets, we slap a luggage tag on that person and load him with the rest of the bags that are never seen again.

Years? They've been doing this for decades. I think that it's considered a job perq.
