If you can get Singapore or Cathay those are infinitely better airlines then Continental or Delta are, so I'd take either of those with the first choice being Singapore.
Anyways, I flew United from Texas to Chicago & then to Hong Kong. Same on the way back. Cheapest ticket I could get & maximized airline miles.
