for me, it was Yosemite Valley, around 1 am...walking around the Valley at the base of the cliffs, walking in and out of different clearings of massive trees as if entering a giant cathedral, with a full moon ducking in and out of the clouds, turning the scene from dark to light and over again...ethereal in every sense imaginable.
Forty five years ago a few undiscovered places in New Mexico would have qualified as the most beautiful places I had seen but now I would have to say the Chilean Andes take the prize.
Others here have mentioned New Zealand. I agree that it is the most beautiful country that I have visited. The whole country is fantastic. IMO, though the most lovely section of New Zealand is the very northern part which is known as the Bay of Islands. There is much to be said for the south island too, though.
The Highway #1 trip from SoCal to the Wyoming border was the most beautiful sight I can remember.
I want to know what everyone did/does for a living!
I am getting teary knowing I.ll probably never get to see the Galapagos Islands... unless I find a "scholarship" boyfriend who wants to whisk me away.
Tuscany and Ireland hands down . Oh the green emerald shores of Ireland . I get blown away everytime I think about it . And the vineyards in Tuscany oh my gosh another blown away moment . Many years ago wish I could afford to go again .
My sister just got back from New Zealand and she thinks she caught a bug . More like a cold my sister is a hypacondriac .
I prefer West Philadelphia, especially around Spruce Hill. It is as exotic a cityscape as exists anywhere in the U.S.
And I agree that you should try to find beauty wherever you happen to be. But if you're arguing that the effort and expense people incur in getting to New Zealand, Slovenia, Ireland, the Yosemite Valley, the Grand Canyon, etc. are wasted....I respectfully disagree. It's a great big world out there.
