I live in Texas and my girlfriend's 30th birthday is in December. I want to take her to a 3 to 4 day vacation in December for her birthday(preferably the beach) but I am open to other options.

What are some places that are cheap during this month that you recommend?

Thanks for your help.

Cheap is relative.

3 or 4 days worth of meals and hotel bills and r/t airfare...
has a certain minimum no matter where you might go.
The increment above that base... rising up to rather nice... isn't so much.

Better to focus on a destination that suits and find the best deal there...
and to NOT let the GF know you're bargain shopping it.

hth

How about Belize.

Its relatively cheap and unlike its neighbors (Guatemala, Mexico) they speak English. Also easy = currency pegged 2/1 to US Dollar and relatively close to you, we've gone there thru Houston and only about a three hour flight.

They've got all kinds of vacation stuff.... snorkeling, scuba, boating, swim with stingrays, go inland see Mayan ruins, bars right on the water, etc.

Aha ...
South of Texas ... IS ... north end of the Caribbean ...

BTW, frugal and Caribbean do not fit together.

A short but sweet vacation, does not have to have a lot of luxury amenities.
Just a small town, with some history, is all that is needed.

For our 40th anniversary, we did a 200 mile round trip with two overnights at some quaint small town, and stayed at a B&B.
The owners figured out what we were doing and they just arranged for a few short sight seeing trips. Then for dinner, they *arranged* to have everybody staying there that night to congratulate us on so many years of bliss ... (I actually bought a large cake to share with everybody)
The owners of the B&B, picked flowers form their garden and made a nice flower arrangement for our dinner table.

I think that this is only possible in small towns !!!

Just a thought ... ???

OK, 40th Anniversary says it all...we are not old timers, but young people that are looking to explore life.

Caribbean should be a great trip. Thanks.
