This thread is to see what YOU think are the best airports in America are. Many times when you see a "best airport" article anywhere it usually has a messed up rating sysem or something like that. They can be fairly accurate or just plain wrong.
For instance, Kansas City usually is one of "the best airports" but I don't think that's true. KCI is ok, certainly not anything special. Its kind of bland and boring, and security is messed up.
So what are YOUR favorite airports, not Travel and Leisure's or any other magazine/poll.

we could do this by the process of elimination
and we can eliminate Charlotte early because they suck. being the US Aair hub should be enough but if its not, they have issues with security I can never get to the boarding area in less than 1 hr.
the only thing I like about the Charlotte airport is the long term parking is only $3.00 a day

Be glad that you still have a hub in CLT. Pittsburgh crapped all over USAir, and now they wonder why they have to fly 2 hours in the wrong direction to get anywhere.
The best airports I've found are the ones where you land safely, find your bags quickly and get outta there. All airports have their good and bad points. The same airport can have good service, fast baggage handling, quick check in, fast TSA inspection and on time leaving the gate. The next day a different shift, different employees, different crew, different weather and the whole scenario sucks. It's a crapshoot at any airport in the USA.
I liked DTW for connection flights, nice people mover, quick immigration... PIT (least crowded, good parking opportunities, free Wifi... unfortunately only one intercontinental flight (the one to Paris I used).
I did not like EWR (crowded, stupid connection with CO via any sattelite gates with bus), ATL (unfriendly staff, imho).
I think it depends on where you fly to and how often you fly.
Most of my travel is from Orlando to the northeast (almost weekly) so I fly US Airways pretty much exclusively. I prefer PHL over CLT, there are some great places to eat, great wine bars, and more than anything, it's easy and comfortable to kill time in PHL. Even the dump (F terminal) has gotten better over the past year or two.
If PVD would put in a US/CO/UA lounge they would be THE PERFECT airport (except one TSA agent there almost always picks young, pretty, slender females in tight clothing for secondary screening.) I've watched it several times while sitting at gate 20 waiting for a flight.
OAK has some of the friendliest TSA I've ever encountered, ATL, MCO, and EWR have the sorriest excuses of people who shouldn't be working with the public in those jobs.
MSP and PHX are good places to kill time.
I don't like LAS, the slots in the waiting areas make it unbearably loud.
Locals like Kansas City International (MCI), especially for arrivals, because we can step off the plane, walk out the door and catch a shuttle bus so quickly. For everyone else it sucks because of the lack of eating/shopping options, and rechecking through security if your connection is in a different terminal, or even a different gate.
