Has anybody here ever rented a timeshare? If you did, did you think it was a much better value than a hotel?

I've been of getting out of town the week between Christmas and New Years and stumbled on an article on timeshare rentals. After a little investigating, I found a few websites that offered them but I have no idea if they are legit or not. Some of them wanted you to enter your name, address, e-mail and phone number before you could see what was available, or what the prices were. I've always been skeptical of any site that requires you to do all that before you can even see what is being offered.

Any information, or links to legitimate websites that offer timeshare rentals would be appreciated.

My own experience was several days off-season (mid winter) at a lakeside lodge in northern Minnesota. I found it in one of those discount coupon books, and it was a lot cheaper than even a roadside motel, for a nice 2-room suite with full cooking facilities and access to all the lodge perks.
