I'm flying cross country on Delta and after reading their guidelines for baggage it appears that I can have 1 checked bag under 50lbs. That's easy.
For the carry on, I was wondering if I would be allowed to bring my small carry on suitcase. Which shouldn't be a problem.
Delta's site also goes on to say that I can bring a personal bag such as a purse (if I were a lady) or laptop bag. I'd like to bring my laptop bag along with my carry on suitcase. The only problem I for see is that my laptop bag is actually a back pack which I'd like to keep batteries, iPod, laptop, books, snacks, etc. for use on the plane.
It fits in the overhead but would they try to make me check one of the two for $50?
I appreciate any insight as I don't fly often (this will be the 3rd time in 25 years) and I have never flown Delta.
Actually, just thought of another question. Do the 757 and 767 cross country flights have individual lcd screens for passengers?
If it matters, CLT to LAX with a stop in ATL.

nope, you are fine. I travel for business every week and when Im going to be gone a while, I check my big bag and take my TWO rolling luggages as carry on. one is a laptop bag and the other is my luggage. The laptop bag fits under my seat and the carry on luggage I planeside check.
I think the 767's have the LCD screens. Trying to remember because I fly that route periodically - ATL to LAX. Usually I got my laptop playing a movie and don't even bother with the screen.
I think Delta is still configuring all it's planes, so it's a gamble if you will get the screen or not. Then you will be able to see Deltalina in all her close-up glory (the hot redhead video girl that goes through the safety check).

You're not the first person to tell me about the Safety Girl @ Delta. haha.
I was reading on their site that domestic flights over 4 hours should have them.
I just took a 757 from ATL to SFO and yes they did have individual lcd screens. Remember to bring you own earphone otherwise their will be a charge of $2.00.
I ended up only bringing one carry on and a Jacket, but thanks for all the replies!
My checked bag was 50.5lbs and Delta kindly asked for my $90 extra to check it. I told the friendly agent to hold on while I unpacked a pair of hiking boots and tied them to my carry on. All was well after that.
Deltalina and I got along nicely, she is great at teaching safety.
And both of my flights from ATL to LAX had the built in LCD screens. Having some tv channels on the flight was a great idea, and they're free. Everything else except trivia you need to pay for.
Yeah Deltalina's finger wagging during the no smoking bit turns me on immensely for some strange reason ("remember, smoking....*then the finger wag pause with the slighly naughty girl look*...is not allowed").
I am suprised that they actually have live TV now, not pre-recorded. NBC/CNN/ESPN. Nice.
can i bring smalll snacks on my carry on the plane
I am flying Delta
