I've traveled by all four, but plane and bus were just not fun. Sure, planes are faster, but I enjoy to have control over my traveling, I get to decide when to stop and can visit random cities on the way to my destination. Trains are fun, but they take a while and can get expensive over long distances.

Most of my cross-country travel so far has been as a passenger in a tractor-trailer, which is a great way to get around the states. You get paid to travel, have your own bed six feet behind your chair, and if you want to stop and explore a city, there is most likely a truck stop where you can stop and rent a car. Sometimes the truck stop is within walking distance of the city (Nashville, TN comes to mind). I've used that format to see Seattle, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Nashville, Dallas, Denver, Boise, Indianapolis, Chicago, Albany, Pittsburgh, and many many other cities.

I prefer car travel as well. In the past I have used the others but I cannot stand being cooped up with a bunch of strangers so a car is by far, the best option for me personally.

Besides I like to be on MY schedule, not someone elses. If I want to take a little spontaneous side trip, or spend an extra 10 minutes in the bathroom, I can with no worries.

I prefer traveling by bus because not only do I get to look at the scenery along the way but I don't have to worrying about driving! I can even nap when I want to along the way. I travel a lot by car and love it, of course, but I can't afford to get too distracted looking at the scenery because that could lead to an accident.

I love airports, and I love to fly.

Least favorite: by car. Unless someone else is driving.

I prefer car travel whenever possible.

Air travel is only done when driving is not really a reasonable choice.

I like trains, but find it hard to justify the cost in the US.

I had an 8- or 9-hour one. I did end up having to go to the bathroom, but waited until I was in the airport.

RV was not on there and neither was boat, so I chose car. Anything's better than flying (except maybe the bus) but of course you gotta fly if you're traveling any real distance. Especially if you're crossing oceans.
