Weird, I actually thought I cancelled this thread (changed my mind), but since it's here. Yes I was going to add a poll:

Cat 1

New York
London
Paris
Tokyo

Cat 2

Los Angeles
Rome
Singapore
Sydney

Cat 3

Berlin
Barcelona
Chicago
Bangkok
Dehli
Rio de Janeiro
Cape Town
I've been to the 3 I highlighted. Cat 3 was difficult as I enjoyed Berlin as much as I enjoyed Barcelona but the food in Spain broke the tie there. Cat 2 I was torn between LA and Rome and while I did enjoy Rome there are many other Italian cities I prefer. Cat 1 - I love NY but Paris has always had my heart. I'd move there in a heart beat if I had the opportunity - and yes, I have been so its not just some illusioned idea.

Even though it’s an old post it’s still topical.

I’ve visited all in Cat 1 and 2 and lived in 2 of these 8 cities. As far as a visit from someone who’s never been, I’d say New York and Rome for these categories.

In Cat 3 I’ve been to 3 of them (Berlin, Chicago, Rio) and of the remaining, I would probably like to visit them in the following order:

1) Barcelona
2) Bangkok
3) Cape Town
4) Delhi

Why? I’ve never been to Spain or Thailand, so that’s one reason. I’ve been to South Africa (Johannesburg) and to India (multiple cities) but in the latter I would want to visit Jaipur and Agra before Delhi (although I would likely fly through Delhi to get to either).

Cat 1
I’d pick Tokyo because I’ve spent tons of time in the other three.

Cat 2
I’ve been to all of them. I’d rather go to Rome again.

Cat 3
That is tough. I’ve been to Chicago many times and Barcelona. With all the time I’ve spent in Germany, I’ve never been to Berlin. I haven’t been to any of the others. I guess Bangkok if someone is buying me a business class ticket. I’d love to go to any of them. On my dime in an economy seat, I’d pick Berlin. I try to avoid overnight flights in the cheap seats. I had too many of them when I was younger.

Paris, Rome and Cape Town. I've always wanted to go to Africa. I'd love to see Rio to, been to Paris but there is so much to do.

I would want to go somewhere new, so I will exclude those cities I have already visited. (New York, Tokyo, Rome, Singapore, and Bangkok)

My picks would be London, Sydney, and Delhi.

Cat 1

That one is easy, I'd pick Tokyo of all those choices.

Cat 2

Of these, I'd pick Singapore. Though it was a HARD choice between that one, Sydney, and Rome myself.

Cat 3

This is a HARD choice between Berlin and Barcelona for me. Honestly from what I've read between the 2, I'd narrowly pick Barcelona, due to the architecture and food there. And since I VERY badly want to see the La Sagrada Familia church.
