I need help picking a destination for my honeymoon in May. I would prefer it be in the Caribbean, however, I've never been there, let alone anywhere outside of the US. I like the idea of the Caribbean though because I want to go someplace warm and tropical. Now, I want to stay someplace where I can go snorkeling, rent jet skis, get a massage on the beach...those type of things...while having the option to party. My husband and I are both in our 20's and like to have fun. Not interested in going on hikes or to a zoo or anything of that nature. I've read that both the Bahamas and Aruba would be a good fit, but I'm afriad the Bahamas will be packed with spring breakers and children. And as far as Aruba goes, it looked okay, but the only night life I saw was the casinos. Anyone that's been to Aruba? Or any other suggestions? (The Dominican Republic is kind of out of the question because my husband is from there and it wouldn't be a true honeymoon for him.)

Aruba is a "desert" island...not as "tropical" as those islands that get rain....very barren except where hotels have planted (and watered) plants!

What time of year? The Bahamas can be quite chilly in the dead of winter....they are on about the same lattitude as Florida, so winter cold-fronts can affect them. Spring and summer will be fine. The Bahamas isn't actually in the Caribbean...it's in the Atlantic. Same with Bermuda.

Aruba is in the S. Caribbean...it gets HOT!

Have you thought about St. Thomas? Grand Caymen? Puerto Rico?

Go to the library, and get a guidebook on the Caribbean...read up on the different countries and see what would suit you best!

Well as I said it would be in May which is why I dont have much time to research this either. My husband is military so we didn't know until a week ago whether or not we could even take this trip. We were actually married in 2010 but he hasn't been able to leave until now. I mainly just dont want choppy waters (I live on the beach on the east coast and I get enough of that already) and fun stuff to do

I've only been to one Caribbean country and that was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica. There are tour companies that can pick you up from the airport and take you to the hotel and vice versa. They will also drive you around to where you need to get and recommend places to see and things to do. When I was there I did diagonal waterfall climbing there (more like a water stream), it was pretty fun and easy.

I would hunt the net, or this CD site, for an all inclusive; they can range from big dough to reasonable, and it will take a little leg/computer work to sort them out. Or, a decent travel
agent with your budget and needs firmly defined...

Aruba is a long plane ride, from the US. Bahamas are fine, (Spring break is over by May), as are the all inclusives in Cancun and Playa del Carmen south of Cancun.

Not pitching AIs, but for a decent vacay with most expenses covered, a beach, a pool, a trip to town, they are hard to beat on short notice, imo.

A link, maybe too commercial for CD's bar, but there are pages of sites on the web, or your local TA.

St. Maarten is beautiful! My favorite place in the Caribbean. Aruba is nice too. Good luck on your choice and hope you have a great time!

I've been to the Bahamas (yes they really are in the Atlantic), Jamaica, Cayman Islands, Mexico, British Virgin Islands, and the American Virgin Islands.

By far my favorite was the British Virgin Islands. Plenty of partying (especially if there is a Full Moon) but lots of mellow atmosphere and natural beauty as well. The weather was perfect in January, I would think May would be okay.

The place I liked the least would probably be the Bahamas, but we did not see a whole lot.
