My DH and I like to take road trips during the summer. I thought it would be informative to hear other ideas and tips for traveling.

I will start with a couple of books.

1. This is my Travel Bible for interstate travel. It is a must for anyone driving around the country.

2. Entertainment is a book with discounts for many locations. Here is their link:

3. Campgrounds are a great way to travel. They are fun and have a lot of activities going on. Many have camping cabins. Try these chain campgrounds for cabins. The prices are great for all that you get.

I'll add that sometimes state parks have scenery and amenities at least as nice as some of the national parks, sometimes with far less crowding.

Basic camping stuff (mostly just the cook box).
Road Map Atlas book.
Cash or ATM card.

Follow your nose. Go slow. Welcome distraction.

You are so right. I live on the border of three states and we have some wonderful State Parks. I actually just called and ordered the brochures to plan a couple of camping trips.
