thanks for your replies.

I think I will indeed do that, take two trips:
north states east to west and then back to whereever I'm living at the time.
south states east to west and then back to whereever I'm living at the time.
I think north states will include: NY, Michigan, Wisconsin, Minnesota, North Dakota,
South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Washington, Oregan, Wyoming, Nebraska, Iowa, Illinois,
Indiana, Ohio, PA, New Jersey, Connecticut, Maine, Vermont, western Massachusetts.
lol, well I guess I'll have to make two north trips.

I think south states will include: California, Nevada, Utah, Colorado, Kansas, Misouri, Kentucky,
WV, VA, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Texas, New Mexico,
maybe another visit to Arizona, Louisianna, Mississippi, Alabama, Georgia, and Florida.
lol, I'll likely have to make two south trips.

What about Santa Cruz CA: I may have a relative there at least last time I talked to him he lived there
but that was a few years ago and I lost touch with him, so maybe he's somewhere else now.

I have a friend that used to live in SF but she moved back somewhere in the east, I forget where though.

I have friends in Austin Texas, a friend southwest of Nashville, some friends in Florida,
someone I know (only online so far) in Georgia, a friend in Maryland that I met in person
about a month and a half ago (we shared a cabin together for a few days at a gathering),
after talking to her online and still talk to her online sometimes.
there are people I talk to online from new jersey (they were at the gathering too.)
and other places: Louisianna, Chicago, West NY (< where the gathering was) who were at the gathering too.

pittnurse70:
did you see my reply above to your question about city or contry preferences etc?
also: so what is special (that I might be interested in) about Colorado?
is there any type of public transportation options in and around Colorado or would I have to take taxi's most of the time?

No, I did not. Where is it?

also: so what is special (that I might be interested in) about Colorado?

MOUNTAINS! Big mountains! Snow, year-round. Canyons. Wildlife. A big city (Denver) with all sorts of big-city attractions.

Well, I thought I answered that, but I"ll repeat:

There is bus/light rail service throughout metro Denver. There is Greyhound service from Denver to various places. I'm not familiar with it.

oic, thanks, sounds good.

this is on the first page of this thread area,
but am copying it here for you too.:
(though I don't know if the LINKs will work or not.)

to answer your question about what I like (city, country etc.):

currently I live in the Merrimack Valley area of Massachusetts USA, a town called Andover
(a sort of snobby town, but there are not so snobby people besides me who live there,
it's kind of a rich town but there are some not so rich people there too.
the town has some people, besides myself with various disabilities and may still have a commission on disabilities
as well as a group of visually challenged that meet sometimes at the local library but I haven't been to any of those meetings for some time.
I'm somewhat familiar with Boston (the subway system) and nearby areas, I used to attend school in Charlestown
at Bunker Hill Community College. my eye doctors are all located in Boston so every few months or so I go in
for regular checkups and usually will stop at whole foods or a nearby restaurant to get lunch at afterwards.
I watch what I eat carefully and don't get frequent migraine headaches anymore in fact I hardly get them at all now except on occasion,
since I avoid foods that can trigger them by watching what I eat and being very selective of what I purchase and tend to shop
at health food markets like wild oats, whole foods, trader joes and choose carefully what I buy from wal-mart super stores
which also have supermarket sections in them.)

I hope to go to (back) to school (but this time go to) either Flagstaff AZ's Northern Arizona University
or Scottsdale's Community College and be back in Massachusetts during the summer(s),
at some point (when can't have the apartment I have now or have to move from it)
I'm considering for massachusetts times (since I want to live part of the year in AZ and part in MA) moving to Amherst
since the bus company has buses that run into the late evening, while here where I live now the buses
(MVRTA - Merrimack Valley Regional Transit Authority) stop here in town at 6 50 pm and don't run on weekends
and in nearby cities and towns stop at around 7 30 or 8 pm weeknights and slightly earlier on weekends
and I don't think any of them run on sundays.
<<I don't drive cause I can't meet the visual acquity on the eye chart and do not own a car,
so I rely mainly on public transportation or rides from friends or family on occasion.>>
the buses in amherst, run till around 1 or 2 am weeknights and I think a little later on the weekends too.

so I'm listing all this, to give you a sense of where I live and what the area is like.)
I do NOT like cold snowy winters anymore, the early fall is fine and the weather imho is just right most days,
but when it gets to late fall and winter it's just too cold here and much too snowy
(with not proper clean up so that the sidewalks aren't safe for seniors or disabled people to walk on
without risking slipping and falling on snow/ice.) , early spring here is a bit cool,
but late spring and summer are quite nice even with humidity sometimes and then the ac goes on, LOL

I love the desert of Arizona, it is beautiful and enchanting, especially Sedona, with the red-brown mountains,
contrasted against the green cacti, and contrasted against the bluest skies I can ever recall seeing.
I love mountains too (in general) as I see them as a life metaphor since sometimes life can be like climbing mountains,
I've sure had enough of these to climb in my own life.

music is a big interest for me.
from the 1950s to the 1980s, country, and some select music of today and yesterday: stevie nicks, fleetwood mac, the beatles, john lennon, macy gray, the fray, train, sarah mclaughlin, sheryl crow, older: james taylor, carly simon, carole king, billy joel, elton john, buddy holly,
janis joplin, sting, bonnie raitt, depeche mode, 80s:run dmc, aerosmith, christopher cross, kenny loggins, john denver, semi-newer country: travis tritt, pam tillis, martina mcbride, tanya tucker, mary chapin carpenter, vince gill, hal ketchum/charlie pride, sawyer brown, etc.)

so what is special (that I might be interested in) about Colorado?
is there any type of public transportation options in and around Colorado
or would I have to take taxi's most of the time?

Honestly, Im not sure whats going to be, several years from now. What I would like and what could be realistic might be two different things.

I mentioned stevie nicks and fleetwood mac earlier.
my dear kitty is named fleetwood mac after the group but I mainly
call her Mac or Mac Mac or little Mac for short.
