Globe Trekker - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Also known as Pilot Guides/Lonely Planet: Pilot Guides. This long running travel show has been a mainstay of say the Discovery Channel, Travel Channel.etc for awhile now (not sure if they still air it on Discovery). I remember watching it as a kid, and it further sparking my wanderlust. I liked how it catered more to budget travellers, and struck a balance between showing the regular tourist sights as well as the more out of the way places.

I remember Ian Wright and Justine Shapiro the best out of of the presenters/travellers, and I think Wright was my favourite. Megan McCormack was also pretty good, I prefer her to Justine. Do you have a favourite presenters? Did it inspire you a lot to travel/did you find it interesting viewing?

I agree with you about Ian Wright. He just has this great energetic spiritedness about him. He makes you want to travel more and see the world.

Ian Wright is great. I love the series as I can see places that I have been and many more places that I haven't been to.

Are they on Netflix now? I have to check them out. Yeah Ian for sure was the best. Funny guy.
There was also one lady that caught malaria in Africa, she was good.

I love it but it disappeared from our screens in the UK as far as I know. Ian Wright was my favourite by far. He would make a perfect travelling companion.

Ian was a hoot! It used to be on late at night on PBS in my area, but I haven't seen it for years.

Megan is my favorite. She always seems to be having a blast doing the show.

I do not care much for Ian.

My 2nd favorite is probably Holly Morris (she is the daughter of Chicago sports legend Johnny Morris). She seems to be very natural in front of the camera/

Katy Haswell only did one show (Belgium and Luxembourg) but I really liked her in it.

This past Monday I saw a new episode on Myanmar. The theme song and beginning of the program was different than any other episode I have seen in the past and Megan's hair was a lot longer than in any previous episode that I have seen with her.

We adore Ian Wright, and for awhile I thought he voiced the Gekko on the commercial here.
I like Justine (SF Bay Area girl), too, and Zay Harding. Not a big fan of Holly Morris.

As much as we enjoy the show (still shown on antenna here), I can count on one hand the places we might ever like to actually visit. They pick the weirdest events, places, etc.

And there was one episode that really grossed me out: Ian stayed with some indigenous people up in the far northeast of Canada, and the people just sat on the floor of their fairly ordinary kitchen and ate bloody stuff and reveled in the blood, blood all over their faces, etc......creepier than any Dexter episode. :eek
