I have been told I am crazy but I turned down a free trip to Cancun a few months ago. I have zero interest in going there even if its free. A relative of mine was invited to a destination wedding and didnt want to go by herself so she offered to pay for my ticket and hotel. I know quite a few people that love going to Cancun but they are big drinkers and it seems like all their stories involve getting hammered and spending at least one night hugging the toilet bowl. No thanks. The ONLY thing that interested me in going was seeing the ruins. I looked into it and read all kinds of info. I knew from what was described this relative would not be able to handle it due to health issues. I felt kind of bad turning it down but it worked out for the best. She ended up in the hospital not too long after her offer and she was too spooked to travel out of country after that.
