I have been to 40 of the US States, including the 2 I have lived in.

-1 province of Canada (Alberta) but plans to go to Quebec and New Brunswick in 2009/10
-Iceland (lived all over for summer)

So 3 so far.

In the near future:
-I will be living in Mexico for 4 months starting at the beginning of September (mostly Oaxaca, but also Chiapas, Mexico City, Puebla, and a few other towns)
-for January through June I will be studying in London so I plan to make side trips on long weekends and April break to Spain, Portugal, France, Italy, Greece, Belgium, Czech Republic, Hungary, Ireland, Netherlands, Ukraine, Austria, Morocco, Tunisia, Switzerland, Denmark, and Sweden.. I probably won't hit *all* of them but most of my friends who have spent a semester in Europe have hit at least 5 or 6 major world capitals
-Birthright Unplugged to Israel, Jordan, and the occupied territories of Palestine within a few years of my college graduation in 2010

I already posted my number earlier but wanted to say that I just took my 3 children (ages 12, 9 and 5) on their first out of the country trip. We spent most of our time in Germany but drove to France and Austria while we were there. They were totally amazed at the different way of life and learned so much! I am so glad that I did it as I almost cancelled last minute because the cost was huge! It was also great family time and we have so many unbelievable memories of the time spent together travelling.

This brings me to a question that someone asked. "Why travel the world when you can see all 50 states?" I think rhere is no way to appreciate the life we have here without travelling abroad and seeing the way others live. We are so lucky! Just ask my kids!!

Are you saying that your way is the only "good" way? I am sorry that is what you taught your kids on this trip. You should have taught them that there are people in the world that live in different ways.

I see it the other way. There's no way you can see how much room for improvement there is in this country until you travel abroad!
