I promise this will be the last question (for a while anyway) about Africa. As I've been researching, I see that there are lots of tours labeled "self drives." I see these advertised for Kgalagadi and Etosha Parks. Those places are intriguing but I am a bit intrigued/unsure about driving on my own in places like South Africa, Namibia, and Botswana. While South Africa seems more "civilized" and I understand the roads are good, I am curious about how Namibia and Botwsana's roads are. Also, is a white guy safe driving around in those areas?

Anyone have experiences with these?
