Google maps has some options, but I don't see an option for traveling with a trailer. Does anyone know how to look up directions for either commercial vehicles or a less than 9-foot wide trailer?

Specifics: Need to tow a trailer back from Cape May, NJ to Suffolk County on Long Island. I can get my way from the GW bridge through Long Island, but am not as familiar with Jersey.

Other than reading signs, how do truckers avoid parkways, etc?

Default My solution...

So I see this post has had 24-views in the few weeks since I posted, but zero replies. I'll assume everyone was looking for the answer and just post my result.
I learned you can take the Garden State Parkway north from Cape May (with a trailer), but not north of Tinton Falls. As such, we took the GSP north to 195 and then headed due west to 95. We could have gone a bit further and taken 18 diagonally north-west, but I remember there being lots of traffic lights and <55 MPH areas so we stayed with a more major road.

From 95 we had the option of going across Staten Island (via bridges, etc) to Brooklyn, but I wanted to avoid traffic, small bridges and unfamiliar roads. We took 95 north to the GW Bridge, Cross Bronx (my most hated road) to Throggs Neck Bridge to Clearview expressway to 495 east. This was a longer way around, but simpler and probably better time with traffic backups from SI to Bklyn.
