Carthage, MO is the county seat for Jasper County. Our most recognizable feature is the courthouse, in the middle of the square.

For Seattle, WA, it's the "Space Needle."

San Francisco, CA has the Golden Gate Bridge.

San Antonio, Texas has The Alamo.

Memphis has The Pyramid convention center rising above the bluffs of the Mississippi river and dominating the northern side of downtown.

This is a multimillion dollar unoccupied arena, never used, decaying for a decade, still subject to political bickering. It's a perfect representative of Memphis - a landmark to political corruption, graft, government beuracracy, inneficiency, and taxpayer waste.

I'd say probably Cinderella's castle is the most widely associated with Orlando as far as the average tourist is concerned, even though it's not in Orlando. In Orlando the Lake Eola Fountain would be our most recognized landmark. I live in Clermont, FL, and we have the Citrus Tower as a recognizable landmark.

Washington Monument or Capitol Building, since those you're most likely to be able to see from a distance.

Annerk beat me too it but I was gonna say there's a set of big ol set of mouse ears around here somewhere.....

Funny you should mention the Citrus Tower...I was on Citrus Tower Blvd on Sunday. I got to thinking all the times we'd go to the top and see nothing but orange trees.
