Where in NJ? Driving with kids? Are you used to long distance driving? My husband drives from our home in the Orlando area to the Bridgewater area non-stop and reverse. He does it every other month. It takes him typically 16-17 hours. He is alone, no kids. He stops three times for gas and food. He leaves around 1:00 am and misses DC traffic that way. He uses Google maps and a CB radio to keep advised of traffic problems ahead and will get off onto side roads to avoid them.

If you have kids with you or are not used to distance driving, this is ill advised.

We live in E. NC, Greenville, NC & we are at the half way point for our relatives that are coming from the Atlantic City area to Orlando. Southern, NJ to us 8-9 hrs. (depending on traffic) none of us go on I-95, there are always construction delays. Overnight stay at our home and then a 10 hr. trip to Orlando.

annerk is correct, if you leave around 12-1 am. there isn't any traffic and you can make great time on I-95. Especially if you have children this is the way to go, they will sleep & before you know it you will be in NC. Pack sandwiches, drinks and snacks. It will still be 10 hr. trip to Orlando from NC.

There is very little construction on I95 right now.

Frontier is great for snowbirds or people who don't have nonrefundable reservations for hotels, theme park tickets, etc. They have a limited number of planes and only fly on certain days. If you flight is cancelled it could ruin the entire trip. My friend flies down to see me every few months and often uses Frontier, but if the flight is cancelled she gets her money back and goes home. No big deal, we usually have no set plans other than to hang out.

If you want to eat at any of the Disney restaurants, start making your reservations now. People start to book 180 days out. AS far as Disney check out www.disboards.com
