Same Day Passport Renewal at the LA Passport Agency? (cost, passports, expired)

I just realized my passport is expired and I need to travel really soon. I found out that you can go an Expedited Service at an Authorized Passport Acceptance Facility. My question is, do I get my passport renewed and in my hand the Same Day if I go to the Los Angeles Passport Office? Or how many days does it take? Thanks

5 business days plus an additional $60 on top of the regular fees. That is not that bad.. Thanks.

… if you can get an appointment. The problem with big-city passport agencies is that appointment slots can fill up weeks in advance. I had to do it once and used an “expeditor.” It was expensive, but there were no appointment available, even if I wanted to go in person.
