Ok I have never used priceline before but how low of an offer will they accept if I use it like for a hotel or something?
Will they give me the star rating I want and what if it is in rough area or doesnt have amenities I need? Anyone use price line and if so what is your expierence?
I've only used Priceline once, for airline tickets. Got a good price...that was 6 years ago, though. I'm leery of the hotel stuff...I like to see the room. Just be prepared...if they accept your bid, you've bought it. I wouldn't be afraid to start low. You can always increase your bid, but you can't decrease it!
I've used priceline a bunch and it has good and bad parts to it. Now they let you see what price you can get a hotel for and then you can bid for it at your own price. One of the negatives is that if your bid is denied, you have to wait a few more days to bid again. You have to be prepared to accept the hotel they pick so make sure you do some research on the area before you bid.
I've used priceline for hotels a number of times and you can get some really good deals at times. The best thing you can do is look at biddingfortravel.com or betterbidding.com to see what hotels are listed under each star level and region. That's important so you don't end up winning a hotel you don't want or is really inconvenient for you. If you have a losing bid make small changes to your bid such as adding an additional star level or an additional location. Also if you have multiple credit cards you can put together multiple accounts to get around Pricelines bidding rules. To give you an idea I've stayed in a number of nice hotels (Hilton, Marriott) around DC for under $50/night. Also stayed in Times Square at the Sheraton for $120/night.
I've used priceline many times before. You can specify the area you want, so you can determine taht you aren't in a rough area. I usually start low (like $40) and then when they reject that, I work my way up in price or down in stars, depending. I've always been able to bid again immediately, so I don't know what the person who says you need to wait a few days is talking about. I've gotten hotels in St. Louis for $70 in REALLY nice areas, and even got an AWESOME hotel in London for the equivalent of $60 USD (about 35 pounds). I generally get hotels in the area I want for $70 or under. It's always worth a try!
