I'd probably go for Tahiti because it's a foreign country rather than staying in the U.S.
That. Pretty much word for word.
I prefer foreign travel because i enjoy learning about world cultures. Granted , Hawaii has an interesting cultural history, but today it is just another state in the union. I would rather go somewhere with a language/way of life/monetary system/etc. that was new to me.
Have been to Kauai and loved it. And am planning a trip to the French Polynesian islands. I wouldn't visit Tahiti... ...there are several other better islands such as Bora Bora and Moorea. Based on my research, the French Polynesian islands a thousand times more picturesque than Hawaii.
I would go to Tahiti just because I've been to Hawaii (although not Kau'i) just for the experience of a different place.
