Something like $4-500 a night for a beachfront bungalow out in the Tuomotu Islands of French Polynesia. Worth every cent. Our own porch facing the water, a hammock between two coconut palms, ocean breezes, a beautiful shower that had a door out to the beach. Heaven.

The title of this thread is what is the most you ever paid for a hotel room, so I'm not sure why people are including hotel stays that were paid by their employers.

The most expensive hotel that I personally paid for was the Hotel Negresco on the French Riviera in Nice.
The rate was 480 Euros which at the time worked out to about $720/night.

I guess the most expensive hotel I stayed at (although I paid with points rather than dollars), was at the Paris Marriott Champs-Elysees later on that same trip. IIRC, the rate was 699 Euros (~$1,050) night, although we "paid" 35,000 points/night for 3 nights. (I think it is now 45,000 points/night.)

I985 in Boston; 366 dollars per nite.Special occasion for three nites. The moved to Marriot Long wharf at 200 plus as I remember for two more nites. First was a French owned built in a old bank building as I recall. Forget the name tho in downtown. First was definitely first class compared to second which was all location being in old wharf area and looked kind of like a ship.

I'm sure I've paid a lot for hotel rooms in warm weather during season.
You got a deal. I paid $1200, but it was in December, which is always the most expensive month in NYC.

Was it worth it? I think so. It was our anniversary and it really made us feel like we were far away, even though we were only 1/2 hour from our house. Our 3 kids were still very young, and it was the first time we left them for 3 days (with my mother-in law), so we knew if there was any problem we could get back in a hurry.

I think the over water bungalow at the Hotel Bora Bora was around the same price, maybe a little less. That was on our honeymoon.

There's nothing wrong with that! While my most expensive hotel room per night was $350 (yes, I was reimbursed by my school, but I booked two rooms for a group with my debit card, spending $1,500 I didn't have up front, and wasn't reimbursed for two months until after the trip), I tend to go for much cheaper rates. If I feel good enough about a hostel, I'll go super cheap and try to find a rate of between $20-$40 per night (when I was in Sydney, I spent less than $20/night for my first week in town at a hostel by Kings Cross Station).

The most I can remember spending on a hotel room paid with my money was $85.

On business, I have had to pay as much as $125/ night in a couple of locations.

I generally travel a lot off-season and have pretty simple tastes. When the rates are generally high, I try to use points to pay.

I usually pay between $75.00 and $95.00, but one time I paid $250.00 at a motel 8, but she was really worth it.
