Hello Everyone:

It's that time of the year again. Summer's right around the corner, and it's unofficial start comes this weekend. I'm going to be in New York for 6 days beginning on Friday, and then I have a three week vacation coming up in late July, during which I'll be going to Dubai, and then Turkey as well. Around Labor Day weekend, I'll have another week or so of vacation. I might head on out to the beach, or I might go someplace like Miami or LA.

What are your summer plans? Any trips or exotic vacations?

i'll be flying to the out islands of the Bahamas (50 to 200 miles from Nassau, but a whole world away) and renting a boat to explore the many uninhabited islands and sandbars that are nearby----places that the vast majority of people on this forum have never even heard of such as Conception Island, Plana Cays, Samana Cay (Columbus first landed here!), Rum Cay, Mayaguana, etc!! If I see a single other person on these beaches, i consider it a crown and will move on!! haha!

What is unusual about this trip is that I will literally be getting from my front door to all these places totally under my own power (meaning I'm the one solely responsible for every segment of transportation) since I will be flying myself in a single engine Cessna and then taking the boat without a guide to all thees places.

I am literally like an 8 yr old kid counting down the days to Christmas--thats how excited I am. Although about 30% of me is nervous taking a small boat out alone to all these place, the other 70% of me is excited as hell!!!

Granted I am well prepared w/ a Sat phone, and a ton of survival equip for an emergency. I just need to pick and choose my days wisely with the weather.

On the other hand, I could NEVER be in a herd mindset and hop on an airline flight to a 5 star resort in the tropics and just lay on the beach full of hundreds of other travelers. Anyone can do that!!

I rarely travel for pleasure in the summer--my favorite destinations are better in the fall or winter.

Fully agree. Nothing until the winter. Summer is for staying local, gardening, and keeping in the AC.

I'm going to Miami for Labor Day Weekend too!! My first time going- so I'm pretty excited. Unfortunately, that is my only plans officially booked (flight & hotel). My birthday is late July so I need to find plans for that weekend, but as of yet...I got nothin' lol

I don't like to travel too much outside of Scotland in the summer. I like to enjoy our scenery and beautiful gardens.

However, we're going to Bruges for 6 days in July and our annual visit to see my family in the US from mid-August through mid-Sept. Big trip this year is in the winter - 2+ months in Thailand.
