If you are traveling alone you'll have to pay a single supplement for hotel rooms. Not the same as renting a villa for a family. You may have to lower yourself to staying in hostels instead of 4 star hotels.
I had the same thought. Regardless, whoever this poster is needs to seriously get his act together before embarking on this trip. He claims he is only 18 years old. He is afraid to go to JFK Airport. He doesn't comprehend the high cost of staying in 4* hotels, let alone ANY decent, safe hotel in NYC. And he is thinking of traveling to NYC in February, the coldest, snowy month of the year. (Why do you think the airfares are so cheap?)
May I suggest you get some less ambitious travel experience first? Ever been to London, Paris, Rome, Athens? Ever gone alone? Way different experience than traveling with Mummy and Dad.

And you are planning to go to 3 different states. How do you plan to get to each state after you arrive in NY? Staying in a villa in Florida for 30 days doesn't mean it's going to cost the same divided by 4 to travel alone through 3 states. You do know you can't hire a car, right?
True, but who cares? Those of us who frequent this board know damn well that Mac15 aka Summerwhale is never going to actually make the trip he initially proposed. But someone else who has a firm grip on reality may come across this thread later and find it helpful.
