As opposed to an individual point like a city?

A function like that would be really handy and provide a lot more flexibility for long-distance road travel. I'm no programmer, but I wouldn't think it'd be prohibitively difficult to code something like that into an aggregator.

I don’t know if this would work for you but it’s what I use when traveling via the highways.

I use google maps to identify the route I’m going to take and importantly how far I want to drive each day. Knowing the destination city each day, I can enter the city name while on the maps, and then enter the search for motel/hotels. Google searches “that” city and pin points locations along the highway that I’ll be on. When placing the pointer and clicking on a location of a hotel/motel it will give me information about name, phone and website along with how many stars the hotel has in reviews. Of course I have to do this for each city I’m staying in and before I leave town so that I can make reservations but it gives me a heads up on where I’m staying. I always feel better knowing that my accommodations have been booked and a room waiting for me.

This works for restaurants as well however in some small towns along the highways I've fooled and the location was closed down months or years before. I guess some information about cafes are not always updated by anyone and thus they are still displayed on the maps.

Google maps have a number of features that help while traveling the roads, you simply have to figure out how to make them work for you.

You enter the start point, end point, and what you are looking for within a radius of the route.
