Does anyone have more fun planning a trip than the actual trip itself?

For a recent trip to Maui, I spent 10 minutes on the Costco travel website and booked a condo, flights, and rental car. We did some research on things to do but then just got there and played it a day at a time, doing what we felt like that day. On the 4 road trips we took this summer through several states, we just booked motels in the morning or afternoon from the smartphone when we determined where we would be that night.

There is a happy medium to planning. Having a vacation where every detail is planned is a bit much although you at least want to know logistics for trying to see the sights you want to see. I also need to know where I'm going to sleep that night.

Not more fun than the vacation itself, no. But a different kind of enjoyment, for sure, in the planning and booking process. I'm in the throes of it right now, trying to decide where to go in the fall of this year. Once we decide, I'll be in heaven. I also can work on planning our fall 2016 trip, the main event of which, a river cruise, is already booked.

Planning is half the fun, but I do enjoy the vacation as well.
