I'm not a 'cruises' person but my family wants to do a Royal Carribbean cruise this year and I see this as an opportunity to spend more time with them. One of the stops is in Labadee. From the reviews, it looks like the option on shore is that you can hang out in this 'fenced in' beach area to swim or lie on the beach. However, I'm not a 'lie on the beach' person and I would like to visit the Citadelle and the Palace Ruins at Milot instead. Given the short time frame, it seems like a tour or taxi rental would be best. Has anyone done this? Can you recommend tours (website urls)? Or is there some kind of transportation from Labadee to those sites?

I was there on a RC cruise years ago. If I remember correctly Labadee is a small island off the coast. There was no option to go into Haiti then.

Labadee is a private island and if you get out of the "fenced beach" you would be advised against it. My hubby goes to haiti with a bullet proof vest for the UN.

Yes, it is a beautiful island . . . if you are not a beach person, you need to either become one or stay onboard the ship that day! Take a book, grab a chaise, stare at the beautiful water . . . and just relax. Even if you could venture out to Haiti, you would be totally reckless to do so!
