Now this is a random question, but in all my travels throughout my life, I don't think I've ever seen a single spider in any hotel room I've stayed at. This includes all American hotel/motels as well as foreign hotels in various countries (Asia, Europe, etc.).

I mention this because I am an extreme arachnophobe, and have a ritual every time I come home from work. I check the ceilings, the corners, the bathroom, etc.

I've seen videos of some horrific hotel room spiders and I figure I've just been incredibly lucky. Not even a small spider.

Hotels tend to have a pesticide program to keep bugs out.

If I do find a spider, I remove it myself. I don't want to have to give a $5 tip to the bellboy to have him come and remove the spider.

In the tropics, that's because the geckos in your room ate them.

Lol! That's just mean!!!

Unless a spider is bigger than your shoe, just squish it! If it's a little one, grab a tissue, and then grab the spider...squish! Easy!

Don't think I'd want to grab or squish some of these spiders

Best avoid Costa Rica. I've seen plenty of those (and some big ones) in hotel rooms.

Almora, India last June I got a room in this place called Hotel Shikhar. The rooms were reasonably clean for budget places in India, but I did find the gnarliest, biggest spider I have ever seen in my life in my room one night. This thing was so big (about the size of my hand stretched out minus my thumb) and bright orange that I thought it must have been a tarantula at first. I took a glass from the night table and trapped it inside and left it beside the bed so I could check to make sure it was always there. I assumed if I just put it outside it would have a way of finding its way back anyways. I think I stayed there four nights and I left it under the glass until the day I left.
