Window seat on short flights, to look at the scenery, especially over cities and coastlines.
Aisle seat on long flights, because (1) it's easier to get up to the bathroom; (2) there's way less engine noise. Can't stand the continuous roar of the engine for interminable hours on end.
I used to prefer a window...however, I now prefer an aisle. I have a knee injury, so being able to stretch out my knee, seriously helps. However, I usually upgrade to more room seats.
When I was a kid, I loved window seat for the view and sky, and take off and touch down scenes and whatnot.
But now, I don't care much.
I don't mind if someone next to me tries to have a chit chat. I dont feel any interest in listening to self centered shallow talk though.
I seldom use the restroom unless it's an international flight across the pond, where I may use the restroom may be once or twice.
But I have noticed that window seats are generally all taken before the aisle seats. You will almost never find window seat if half or more of the passengers have boarded before you in a SW flight.
Luckily, I've never had to use an airline bathroom.
Thus, I always get a window seat on the right side of the plane (seat F on most of my domestic flights).
This allows me to be out of the way from people trying to move through the cabin AND I usually lean my head into the window area and fall asleep. Most times, I fall asleep when they close the cabin door and wake up when the wheels touch down.
Window, for the views and not having people going across my seat. I make sure to use the airport bathroom soon before boarding starts, because I hate the ones on the plane.
If my husband and are together, I don't mind if he gets the window seat. But I don't like having a stranger on the window side.
Luckily, I've never had to use an airline bathroom.
Vacationing in the winter I prefer to take off or put on layers of clothes in the bathroom when traveling between beach areas and the cold. Usually travel with family and we take turns with window seat.
Window. Even after many, many, many flights I still like to look out the window during takeoff and landing. Plus I'm claustrophobic, so being able to see out is important. And most importantly, I like to sleep on flights and the window seat allows me somewhere to lean my head.
