Have done a couple three month stints in Phnom Penh. Primarily because I couldn't afford other places in the region and was waiting for work back in the states and it's cheaper to stay in Cambodia and not work than stay in the states and not work.
Have stayed in Bangkok far longer but I basically lived there and had an apartment and everything during those periods. So that prolly doesn't count.
7 or 8 days. Istanbul, Rome, Chincoteage Island, Maui, Cozumel, a few others.
I usually take two weeks of vacation at a time, and use one week to stay in an area, then the other week to travel around a bit. I have not had the luxury to relocate to a place for a season.
About 6 weeks in Northern California...this was pre-"real job", pre-children, and pre-can-afford-to-travel-but-never-have-enough-time. So glad I traveled as much as I did when I could b/c now that I'm mid career, it's very difficult to get away more than 2 weeks.
What is the longest amount of time you have stayed uninterrupted in a city that you didn't live in for purely tourism? Please don't count trips for business, education, or staying with a relative for an extended period.
I wouldn't count a stay where you left the city for a day trip to an attraction in the same region--for example if you visited San Francisco for a week but spent a day in Napa and then returned to San Francisco that evening, that still counts as a continuous stay in San Francisco as you returned the same day.

I was lucky enough to spend a month in Paris, in the 16th arrondissement, in Summer 1994. Family members lived there for work and returned home for their summer vacation, leaving their apartment vacant. They offered it to us, and I'm eternally grateful. It was the best vacation I ever had.
I stayed in parts of Florida for about 3 months alone before, not living there. I camped out and ended up staying with someone I met the rest of the time before returning home.
I then stayed a couple of weeks in 2 other cities; one city near adventure parks, one city near casinos. I was there to mess around and went back home when I was broke.
It was fun.. that was when I was in my 20's before I had responsibilities or obligations.
Ten days in Princeville on Kauai, HI. Went with a girlfriend and we never ventured more than 20 miles away from the condo we were renting. We spent most of our time on the beach.
Stayed for a week and a half in Las Vegas and it was about a week and a half too long. Stayed off-strip and had to walk through all of the hovels behind the glitz of the strip, which was housing for people who worked in the casinos. Very depressing.
Just spent 4.5 days in Atlanta. This is the only time I've unpacked my suitcase in a hotel.
