We're planning a vacation trip to Niagara Falls in August to get out of the desert heat. and to sight see. Anyone with suggestions as where to stay and any other sight seeing to do besides the falls. What about going to Montreal? We're flying into Buffalo NY, renting a car and that's as far as we've gotten planned.
Thanks in advance...
Nitram, I've only been through Toronto in a truck; but I've heard there's some really neat things to see there. Also, make sure you try Tim Horton's; they're the largest Dunkin Donuts competitor in Canada (with some U.S. locations) and I LOVE their coffee. Have a GREAT vacation!
You should go to the Canada side of the falls...Go through the Cave of the Winds..and through all the shops etc .Maid of the Mist.. Montreal is quite a distance to the East. We drove from Toronto to Montreal on the Canada side once, it was not all that great. I would suggest you take a side trip to the Toronto Zoo...Fantastic place!!

There are lots of places to stay in Niagara Falls on the Canadian side. Nearby is a little town called Niagara on the Lake...very pretty and quaint. You could then drive to Toronto...there's lots to see and do there. Then you could drive east and stop in Kingston or Gananoque (about 2 hours east of Toronto) and take a boat tour of the Thousand Islands. Montreal is about 2.5 hours east of Kingston. When in Montreal, be sure to visit 'Old Montreal'.
I hope this helps.
Oh, one more thing. It is usually very hot and humid in Niagara/Toronto/Montreal in August.

Iva always thought Niagara Falls would be interesting, and would probably stay in Montreal while on vacation there too. Of course, I might ask family up there to kidnap me so I wouldnt have to come back!

Niagara Fall is beautiful at nite too, there's colored lights that illuminate the falls and it's gorgeous. It's been a while since we've been there and Im sure there have been changes but I'll always remember that. Lovely frm the Canadian side too, very clean and picturesque. Take a lot of pictures and enjoy!
