Recently since I lost my job I have been thinking of a bucket list of things to do before age and health don't allow it anymore. Today, I have lots of time and quite a bit of money saved and I am relatively healthy. One important part of my bucket list is travel to SUPER exotic places in far off reaches of the world. It would be so interesting!

When I talk about exotic I am not thinking about places like Europe or Cancun. But instead, to remote places in countries like Burma, Morocco, Laos, India, Nepal, etc. Not the big cities but places way off the beaten path.

Have you seen these super exotic places and after seeing them as interesting and exciting in actuality than dreaming about visiting them?

Burma is great. I’d go now, because it is getting more and more popular and is not so far off the beaten path anymore. Fez Morocco is probably the most exotic (looking at least) place I’ve ever been. Laos -- just the best, the nicest people. I never had an unpleasant experience there. God bless Nepal. India will take a lot of research on your part. Anyway, you picked some good ones there.

It's Myanmar, not "Burma". The latter was the name of the country during British colonization, but it is not a colony anymore.

There's things I want to see in life while I'm still young and have my health. And Cancun and cruises to Aruba ia not one of them.

Past two years I went to to Peru, France, UAE, Japan, Vietnam and Cambodia. Going to Brazil next month and then Jordan probably end of year or early 2016. Went to all of them solo. That's the best way to travel. I hate to travel with groups. Nobody can agree on anything. Solo...you do whatever you want.

Life is short....go.

Exotic places are beautiful but you have to be prepared to go without modern amenities, be ready to get bitten by strange insects, and bear with the extremely warm temperatures common in these places. When I am lucky enough to go on a vacation by plane my favorite places to visit are in Europe: France, Italy, England, and one day Spain. The most exotic places I dream of going to is Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, and Cuba. The most "exotic" place I've been to is Hawaii, which is not considered exotic these days (it was probably exotic in the 1900s).

I loveeee to visit tropical exotic destinations that are also REMOTE, and almost completely off everyones radar screen!

A perfect example being the far SE Bahamas (Mayaguana, Rum Cay, Inagua, Crooked Island), and from there I set my sites on even MORE isolated (uninhabited!) places such as East Plana Cay, Hogsty Reef, Little Inagua!

I don't consider any place in the Bahamas to be "exotic" regardless of how populated or not it is.

The most exotic place I've been so far is French Polynesia. I'm with coolgato and have Egypt, Morocco, Jordan, and Cuba on my bucket list.

Myanmar is now a super-ordinary country to visit, and even has on-line visa procedures. You still have to fly in, with all land borders closed, but you don't have to officially change way too much money per day anymore. It's one of the nicest countries I've ever been to, the people are just great. I judge a country by how well I see the people who live there treating each other, with civility and kindness, and Myanmar gets high marks. Iran one of the highest in that respect..

I guess you could say I'm attracted to exotic countries, having been to most of the countries in Africa, including Comoros and Sahrawi and Burkina Faso and Gabon and Sierra Leone and Namibia. Also Kuwait, Bangladesh, Mauritius, Belarus, Turkish Northern Cyprus, St. Pierre et Miquelon, Libya.

I've never been to Czech Republic, and I have no really burning desire to add it to my list -- maybe not exotic enough. I was in Czechoslovakia several times, but only in the part that became Slovakia.

I'm hoping for Cambodia (which was closed when I was there before) and Sri Lanka this year. Dreaming of Ethiopia, Djibouti and Somaliland, but that's a long shot.

On that list I've been to Morocco and Laos. I really enjoyed Laos a lot, it definitely exceeded my expectations. Miles and miles of untouched jungle with a lot of different animals in their natural habitat. Also enjoyed going on boat along the Mekong River. Morocco is also excellent. Fez is my favorite, especially liked going into the old medina. Marrakech is also a must-see.
