Contact the hotel

Before booking online, you should consider calling them directly in their work hours. You might be able to get a glimpse of their service, such as how their staffs talk to customers. You can also ask the manager for more details on the hotel, such as free wifi, late checkout, other services…
Reviews are more important

Don’t be lazy and just look at the rating or number of stars. The reviews are more essential since they are real feedback from real customers who have been there. You may find out some problems you might have to face at the hotel, or services not mentioned on the hotel’s website. It’s a great way to help you decide if your money and time are going to be worth it.
Grand openings are good

When choosing a hotel for trip, you might want to pay attention to those that have just opened recently, or about to. They probably will have excellent staffs and services to strengthen their reputation. Especially, on grand opening days you have a high chance of getting discounts and offers for staying there.
Check the type of room

It may be a good idea to do a bit of research on the internet or contact the hotel about the rooms. After all, you don’t want to feel disappointed when there is no room suitable to your liking only after you got to the hotel right.
Calculate the total cost

To prepare for the extra cost that some hotels wouldn’t tell you until you have arrived, like wifi or usage of the gym, try to predict and think about how much it will cost in total. You might as well save a backup budget for this. You can also ask when you contact the hotel to make sure.
Find and use online coupon codes

Buying coupon online to reduce the cost is always helpful for those who want some extra money to spend on souvenirs. Or you can search for codes on their website that give you a discount when you scan it with your phone.
